E.ON Mitte AG supplies a range of electricity, gas, water, and heat products and services to around 2 million customers spread over a 12,000-square-kilometer service territory that encompasses large areas of Hesse as well as southern Lower Saxony and eastern Westphalia. The company also provides custom-tailored contracting solutions to industrial and municipal customers, enabling them to realize strategic energy projects.

E.ON Energie AG holds a 73.3% stake in the enterprise; the remaining shares are held by 12 rural authorities and the city of Göttingen. In 2005, the company supplied a total of 7,562 gigawatt-hours of electricity and 8,120 gigawatt-hours of natural gas to its customers.
