E.ON Energie took over the management of ZSE in early September 2002. With a 37% market share, ZSE is Slovakia's largest energy utility. Its service territory comprises the country's fastest-growing region-including the capital city of Bratislava. Roughly half of Slovakia's gross domestic product is currently generated in the Bratislava metropolitan area.

ZSE's service territory borders those of E.ON Energies Czech and Hungarian shareholdings. This regional context opens the door to synergy opportunities.
